National Summer Invitation – At Sunningdale

It is seven years since we have played at Sunningdale and it was a very popular return to a great venue. Arguably the best 2 course Club in England we had a fantastic day albeit with parched fairways but sensational greens. 51 Members and Guests attended playing singles in the morning on the New Course mainly in groups of 3 and fourball singles in the afternoon on the Old Course after a wonderful lunch. The results were :-

 

The overall Winners were : Member : Robin Stevenson with 74 pts, Guest : Peter Aldridge with 64 pts (won with a better AM score).

We held our second event at Sunningdale, the National Autum Meeting on 17th October when 31 members and guests had another great day with the same format as the July Meeting. The last group got to the 18th green on the New Course in the dark but no better place to play ‘blind golf’ !

The results were :-

AM Singles on the Old Course – Members 1st Martin Clark 36 pts ocb, 2nd Paul Johnson 36 pts. Winning Guest Edward Hamilton 38 pts. Nearest the Pin Alan Snowball, Longest Drive Neil Birnie.

PM Singles on the New Course – Members 1st Martin Clark 37 pts, 2nd David Aspey 32 pts. Winning Guest Edward Hamilton 44 pts.

Best overall score for the day Edward Hamilton 82 pts.

The winner of the Parker Putter was Tim Hamilton and the Edgson Cup for the best combined score of the National Spring and Autumn Meetings was won by Martin Clark.

The Old Course at Sunningdale is now rated No. 1 in the Country and the New Course No. 5 !
